This is the "Order for Mid-Day Prayer" contained within "A Book of Common Prayer for the Methodist," accessible here.
It is appropriate to kneel for the duration of the order if able, and otherwise to stand or sit in a reverent manner.
It is appropriate for this order to be said at any point in the midst of the day. It is recommended to be said prior to or immediately after the mid-day meal.
O LORD, open our lips, and our mouths shall proclaim Thy praise.
The following Psalm is to be recited or sang:
Give praise, you servants of the LORD;
Praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD ever be blessed,
From this time forth for evermore.
From the rising of the sun
To its going down
Let the name of the LORD be praised.
The LORD is high above all nations,
And His glory above the heavens.
Glory be to the FATHER, and to the SON, and to the HOLY GHOST, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. AMEN.
It is appropriate to read now from the Scriptures.
A period of silent or spoken prayer on the reading is appropriate, to be followed by a prayer of thanksgiving for the day’s bounties thus-far.
The LORD’S PRAYER is to be said, and followed by this prayer:
LORD JESUS CHRIST, Thou said to Thy apostles, “Peace I give to you; my own peace I leave with you:” Regardeth not our sins, but the faith of Thine own Church, and giveth to us the peace and unity of that heavenly City, where with the FATHER and the HOLY SPIRIT Thee lives and reigns, now and forever. AMEN.
The following is to be said or sung:
Praise GOD, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise FATHER, SON, and HOLY GHOST. AMEN.
